Thanks everyone. We’re current on payments, and haven’t used any of the cards for two years. We just can’t make more than the minimum payment, and we’ll never be payed off if that’s all we can swing. We don’t have that much debt compared to a lot of folks we know, but just looking at all options. I’m thinking we’re going to check out a non-profit organization, like suggested by a few of you. Thanks!

Anyone ever heard of The Palmer Firm, they are claiming to cut my credit card debt from $11061 to $7000 in 28 months with monthly payments of $257. kemperk, unfortunately that’s not so easy. Not only do I have a five month old, I also have a 7 year old. While we want control of our finances, we didn’t have kids so their grandparents or daycare centers can watch them while my husband and I work 2 jobs each. This was something I thought could help us out, although I know it’s not fair to others who are paying their debt in full. I just don’t know what’s best.

I’ve heard of companies like cureadebt.com that will settle your credit card debts for 70% of the amount owed. I’ve also heard of government grants to pay unsecured debt(credit cards), but I don’t know where to get the info on them. I’m considering a second mortgage to pay these off with a lower interest rate. Thoughts?

We no longer use credit cards, so the balance only increases because of high interest rates.
